ITS America Launches New Training Platform
"Introduction to Transportation Data" is ITSA Academy's First Course Offering
October 29, 2024

The Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America) launched registration for its Fall 2024 online training course, "Introduction to Transportation Data."

The online, interactive class will be hosted by the organization's new learning management system (LMS), the ITSA Academy. In the future, the Academy will host not only the Data Course, but a series of topical learning opportunities designed to deliver the skills needed to stay ahead in the quickly evolving ITS industry.

The course is designed to teach data principles to infrastructure owner/operator (IOO) staff  working in various roles across their organizations. This course is also aimed at  private sector staff new to the transportation industry who are working in sales, marketing, and product roles.

For those directly involved in ITS, this course will debrief the latest technologies and techniques for transportation data capture, management, and analysis. For staff whose roles are not directly related to ITS, this course will serve as an introduction to ITS and showcase the vital role that ITS data plays in their daily work. Ultimately, this course will spread awareness about the importance of transportation data across an IOO, fostering broader support for ITS-related initiatives and preventing data from becoming siloed within the organization.

"Introduction to Transportation Data" has four main learning objectives:

■ Introduce recent college graduates and industry newcomers to the world of ITS  and highlight key data management challenges.

■ Provide  baseline literacy about transportation data  and its use cases, to encourage a common language with which to discuss these concepts.

■ Teach basic  best practices that are immediately applicable.

■ Spread awareness of ITS's importance  across an organization, to set the stage for wide-scale deployment and use of ITS technologies.
