Ten automakers equipped more than half of the vehicles they produced between Sept. 1, 2017, and Aug. 31, 2018, with automatic emergency braking (AEB), according to NHTSA and IIHS, as part of a voluntary commitment to equip every new passenger vehicle with the crash avoidance technology by Sept. 1, 2022.
